Jerald (Jerry) was born and raised in Ishpeming. He holds a Master of Arts in Urban Planning and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Northern Michigan University. Jerry had long desired to return to the Upper Peninsula for work if and when it became possible, and his current position at WUPPDR offered the perfect opportunity.
Jerry’s responsibilities include recreation, transportation, and hazard mitigation planning; economic development and strategic planning; and administration of the MSHDA single-family homeowner rehabilitation program. He is also the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) coordinator. In his free time, he loves to fish (mostly for stream trout), camp, and travel – within the U.P., the U.S., and abroad.
